Seattle Junior MAC Hike - Lake 22

This hike to Lake 22 combines the best of mountain rainforests, old-growth, wetlands, and dramatic mountain views. It's approximately an hour drive (+/-, depending on traffic) from Seattle.

  • Easy/Moderate
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 5.5 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,400 ft
  • Pace: 2.0mph

Jr MACers and chaperones will meet at the trailhead at 8:00am. Driving directions:

Take Hwy 92 to Granite Falls, where it ends and becomes E Stanley Street. Go east 0.3 miles, then turn left (north) onto N Alder Avenue, which turns into the Mountain Loop Highway. 10.6 miles later, enter the Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. 2.1 miles past the entrance to the Forest, pass over Twentytwo Creek, and 0.4 miles farther, turn right at the entry for the Lake Twentytwo trailhead. The parking area is located around a gravel loop and holds nearly 50 cars. There is a privy available.

A few notes from your valiant leader: I'm a Jr MAC parent volunteer who loves hiking and seeks to share that love, appreciation and respect for Mother Nature with the next generation. Our group goals on this hike: a) stay safe b) have fun c) stick together and socialize while exercising and enjoying our time outdoors.

Parking Pass: NW Forest Pass or equivalent required.
