New Hike Leader Seminar - Mountaineers Seattle Program Center

This 2.5 hour evening seminar provides experienced hikers information to help them become an effective hike leader for the Mountaineers. This seminar is a prerequisite (along with a mentored hike and committee approval) to becoming an official hike leader for the club, and prospective leaders from any branch can get credit for this seminar toward their leader certification. This seminar is not appropriate for folks who have never been on a Mountaineers activity.

Seminar takes place at the Seattle Program Center, Cascade A/B from 6:30 - 9:00 pm. Proof of vaccination required for participation - please contact leader with any questions/concerns. 

Seminar covers Mountaineers hiking classifications, posting hikes on the website, screening hike participants, responsibilities of hike leaders before, during, and after the hike; ensuring a safe and and enjoyable hike. There will be a lecture, small group work, and discussion of real-life scenarios encountered by hike leaders.
