CHS 2 Hike - Hardy Ridge Loop

COLUMBIA GORGE WEEKEND! - CHS hike led at a CHS 2 pace (2.0-3.0 mph) This loop trail offers spectacular views and more solitude compared to other hikes within Beacon Rock State Park. The trail ranges from open meadows, forest and rocky knobs and (weather dependent) includes views of Hamilton and Table Mountain and Mount Adams.

  • Mileage: 8.8 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 2,226 ft
  • Pace: 2.0-3.0 mph

Carpooling will be encouraged! The carpool meet up location/time is TBD though until more details about Gorge camping/accommodations are available.  We will arrive at the trailhead by 7:50am and be hiking by 8am.

For anyone who wants to meet at the trailhead, the hike will start at Hardy Ridge Equestrian Trailhead and a Discover Pass is required. Here are the driving directions coming from Cascade Locks:

Coming from the East on WA Highway 14, just after Beacon Rock turn left onto Kueffler Road at a brown Group Camp sign. Proceed up Kueffler Road for 1.1 miles, and then turn right for the Equestrian Trailhead. Drive this narrow gravel road for 0.3 miles to a large parking area

We'll hike out the West Hardy Ridge Trail and loop back on the East Hardy Ridge Trail. Hopefully we'll get some early wildflowers! The loop is a combination of old logging roads and single track trail. Horses are allowed on the roads, but the foot trail over the crest of Hardy Ridge as well as the rough trail north along the spine of the ridge are hiker-only. The hike begins at the Equestrian Trailhead on Kueffler Road.
