The trail circles the Emerald Ridge, following Tahoma Creek Trail - a not maintained trail due to washouts - to the top of the ridge and down alongside the South Puyallup River.
A bit of scrambling on the first part of the Tahoma creek trail was necessary. Other people have reported going up the side of the creek to avoid the scramble. We saw another couple and a Ranger on this section so people are doing it.
Note: We may reverse the loop and head up the South Puyallup River Trail first as this makes route finding easier on the Tahoma Creek side (my experience).
