Coastal Backpacking Lecture - Mountaineers Seattle Program Center

Lecture for the Seattle Coastal Backpacking course. 

The lecture will include a hands-on exercise during which you’ll use a tide chart and maps to plan a trip along the Olympic Coast.  We will supply the time chart and maps (to take home with you), but please bring paper and pencil, or some other way to jot down times, distances, and notes.

Toward the end of the lecture we’ll also talk about preparations for the field trip on March 11 - 13, especially transportation and setting up the car shuttle.  Before the lecture please take a few minutes to review the trip description, especially the section on “Meeting place and time”.  Please come prepared to talk about possible camping/lodging the night before, whether you'd like to carpool, etc.
