This course is designed to teach students the skills to complete multi pitch traditional routes at crags. Students will be given time and education to safely and efficiently to lead multi pitch climbs and develop new skills that will ensure they are effective leaders for the multi pitch environment.
The Multi Pitch Trad course has been developed to teach students who already have climbing experience how to place protection with an end goal of climbing multi-pitch traditional routes. Individuals who are not completely comfortable climbing beginning to moderate trad routes on Lead (5.6-5.8) , belaying, and rappelling and Lead climbing on bolts at a minimum of 5.7 indoors and or outdoors may have a very difficult time leading the Multi Pitch Routes we use to teach this course outdoors.
This course will cover the following skills:
- Gear Selection
- Route selection
- Rappelling skills
- Anchor Building
- Racking
- Belay station transitions
- Belay escape
- Ascending a rope
- Exit strategies or "how-to bail"
- Dealing with environmental factors

Required:
- one set of Camelots size .3 to a #3
- full set of nuts
- helmet

- rock shoes
- 2 personal anchors
- 6 24 inch alpine slings with 2 wire gate biners per sling
- 3 locking biners
- auto blocking belay device, ei petzle reverso, BD ATC Guide, mega jel
- nut tool
- 20 feet cordalette, 6M nylon, 5M tech cord or spectra
- smaller Camelots optional; BDC3's, or any other brand
- chalk bag
