Introduction to Multi-Pitch Trad

Introduction to climbing in a multi pitch environment.

Read Before Applying!!

Because this module is being held in Squamish BC, things are a little different.

1.) For this module we would like all students to be comfortable leading 5.7 single pitch trad, and capable of safely leading  5.8 (as long as its safe I don't care if you fall or take). The Routes in Squamish are generally harder and more runout, these requirements are for the safety of the students and instructors.

2.) Because parts of the course take place in Squamish BC all students must be capable of entering Canada, and having valid forms of ID (Enhanced or Passport) before June 29th

This course is designed to teach students the skills to complete multi pitch traditional routes at crags. Students will be given time and education to safely and efficiently to lead multi pitch climbs and develop new skills that will ensure they are effective leaders for the multi pitch environment. I

This course will cover the following skills:

  • Gear Selection
  • Route selection
  • Rappelling skills
  • Anchor Building
  • Racking
  • Belay station transitions
  • Belay escape
  • Ascending a rope
  • Exit strategies or "how-to bail"
