Basic Field Trip #4 - Snow Travel w/ Ice Axe and Crampons including self-arrest, and Introduction to Crevasse Rescue.

Meet at 7:00 AM in the Summit West Parking Lot. This session runs until 4:00 PM.

 Basic Field Trip #4 - Snow Travel, Ice Ax and Crampon Skills. You will learn to:

  • Travel on snow safely.
  • Use your ice ax. 
  • Use your crampons.
  • Descend by glissading,
  • Hold a simulated crevasse fall, build and transition from holding the fallen climber, to building & connecting to a snow anchor (aka, escape the belay).
