Self Rescue 1

Learn the skills to rescue a follower while on a multi pitch climb.

COVID-19: Learn about our most up-to-date guidance for participants and leaders on our COVID-19 Response page. All participants and leaders must agree to the COVID-19 Code of Conduct before participating in this Mountaineers course.

Early registration is open for those in the 2019 Intermediate Alpine Climbing Package on Nov 19. All others register January 1.

What would happen if your climbing partner was seriously injured half-way up a multi-pitch climb and needed to be evacuated?  Are you prepared to carry out a rescue with the limited resources you typically carry on an alpine rock climb?  This course will teach you the technical skills needed to rescue an injured follower, including belay escapes, counterbalance and tandem rappels, and haul systems.
