Canyoning Skills Practice Session

Canyoning Skills Practice Session - Mountaineers Seattle Program Center

Come join for a basic level practice session to keep your technical canyoning skills fresh in the off season.

  • Casual

The practice session will take place at the Seattle Program Center from 10am-2pm. We'll start putting on technical equipment at 10am and hand out any gear you'd like to borrow from the Mountaineers for the day.  We'll do group introductions at 10:20am and then everyone can jump in and practice skills of their choice for the rest of the session. We realize some folks may come later in the day, but we encourage folks to arrive on time to be a part of the practice session introductions.

If the weather is dry, we'll be at the North Plaza concrete slabs. If we have rain, we'll be upstairs in Goodman B and C  (the indoor climbing wall near the front entrance).

We'll have dedicated skills stations set up to practice a variety of fundamental skills including:

- Vertical Movement (Ascending, converting to rappel, passing knots)

- Basic Rigging (EMO, MMO, rigging unlinked bolts, traverse lines, etc)

- Webbing Anchors (water knot, wrap  2 pull 1, replacing a Y hang anchor, etc)

We'll have leaders at various stations to provide demonstrations and feedback on techniques, as well as to keep an eye on safety.

Join us for lunch afterward at Magnuson Brewery just a short walk/drive from the Program Center.
