Technical Practice Sessions typically include targeted skills designated by the leader(s) as well as space for participants to practice their choice of technical skills.
Technical Practice Sessions are a peer learning environment. No formal training is provided, and participants must have the pre-requisite training to participate. Interested participants can view the pre-requisite skills by clicking on the badges under registration. If you have the pre-requisite skills but not the badges, select "request leader's permission"
Participants are encouraged to bring books or materials to reference.
Required Equipment
Note: some gear is available to borrow. Contact the leader if you would like to borrow gear.
- Harness
- Helmet
- Descender
- Ascenders
- Foot Loop
- Dynamic Cowstails
- Rigging gear (Eight Device, carabiners, others you'd like to practice with)
- Gloves (optional but recommended)
- Other personal canyon gear (sewn slings, VT prusik, progress capture pulley, etc)
- Lunch/snacks
- Headlamp (even at the program center, you may need to help clean up in the dark)
- Layers appropriate for the weather
If the clinic is at an outdoor location, you may also need to bring (check with leader):
- Extra water (or filter)
- Extra layers
- Wetsuit
- Canyon shoes
- First Aid Kit
- Emergency 10 Essentials Kit
