Spring Break Backpack Trip - Olympia - 2022

Youth Program

Spring Break Backpack Trip

Teen Backpack Week is here! We will spend Monday learning the basics of backpacking before leaving for a 3 day/2 night backpack trip to Ozette Triangle Trail. We will return on Wednesday afternoon with stories and adventures to share.

This exciting week of Camp is for campers ages 10-14 and includes 2 days of local adventures, and 3 days/ 2 nights backpacking and exploring the Ozette Triangle Trail and walk along the Pacific Coast.

Monday - We will spend the morning in Olympia getting to know each other with fun games and ice breakers, followed by planning and preparing for the next few days ahead.  We will  go over  backpacking basics, like how to pack your backpack, put on a backpack, and go over each others packings, to ensure nothing was left behind. Over the next few days we will utilize, Leave No Trace, learn how to filter water, and more! We’ll spend the rest of the morning driving to Ozette where we will begin our trek in the afternoon!

Campers will arrive Monday morning with their backpack packed with gear.

By 10am will be the start of our 4.5 hour drive. We will drive to Ozette and hike to Cape Alava campground, about 2 miles of relatively no incline walking. We will work together to set up camp and adventure before dinner. Our evening will be filled with stargazing, songs, stories, and more.

Tuesday will be packing up and hiking 3 miles along the coast to the Sand Point campground! We will see all cool rock formations, different wildlife based on the tides and many other unique coastal views!

Wednesday morning will be spent exploring in the morning before we pack up and prepare to head home. We will have one final adventure along the 2.5 miles of the triangle as we return back to Ozette.  We will arrive back on Wednesday around 5:00pm with time to share our stories with our families.
