REQUIRED EQUIPMENT
Ten essentials and chart.
Sea Kayak with perimeter deck lines and sealed front and rear hatches (flotation).  Coast Guard approved PFD with attached whistle.  Paddle that floats.  Properly fitting spray skirt,  Dry suit is mandatory, please bring a helmet.  Spare clothes in dry bag, lunch and water, and plenty of snacks for on-water.
Gloves are optional, and you'll need to have a paddle float.  If you have a repair kit bring it.  A tow system is needed (short and long tow). If you paddle with a spare paddle bring it along.
I encourage people to bring what they might need paddling in a remote area.  That way we can assess your kits and make recommendations.  Items to think about are first aid kits, signaling kits, spare clothes kit, and boat repair kits.

Leader's notes:

The plan is to paddle to Blake Island where we will break, then proceed with the clinic.
Be sure to read the entire required equipment listing below.  This is an exciting clinic design to improve your abilities to deal with capsizes, dynamic rescues, and miscellaneous problems during a trip.  You will be expected to capsize and perform rescues.  You will be in the water (a lot) so dress warm!  We will cover incident management, towing, and rescues in calm and rough conditions, allowing you to put into practice rescues and towing with confidence.
This clinic emphasizes "challenge by choice".  You will be able to opt out of anything you aren't comfortable doing.  Everyone has fun!  We will start out slow and build throughout the day.
Must be a mountaineers member.
