Climbing Self Rescue II Field Trip II - Mount Ellinor & Mount Washington

We will practice snow and ice climbing partner rescue techniques.

  • Elevation Gain: 3,200 ft

Meet at the lower Ellinor trailhead or as close as the road allows vehicles to get to it at 0730. We will coordinate as we get closer to the date.

We will use the winter route (chute) for a suitable location for the activities. Will go to the summit as interest/conditions/time allow.

We will practice rescue of climbing partner in glacier travel and ice conditions at a suitable location for the activity.

Required Equipment

Standard glacier travel gear. Purcell Prusiks preferred to Texas  Prusiks.

Two pickets for each person.

Adequate number of alpine draws/slings/prusiks.

6-8 locking carabiners

6-8 non-locking carabiners

4 ice screws if  conditions require them

Rescue pulleys helpful; not essential.
