Winter Camping Field Trip - Kendall Peak Lakes

SNOWSHOE-SPECIFIC FIELD TRIP. Practice winter camping skills, try out gear, learn hands-on about how to be safe and comfortable camping in the backcountry in winter conditions.

For this field trip, we will travel with snowshoes.  (Skiers, please see our other field trip.)

Practice skills discussed in the winter camping lecture, including: 

  • site selection
  • how to set up a winter camp
  • cooking food
  • gathering water
  • building an emergency snow shelter


    In addition to our hands-on learning activities, we will engage in a group activity:  snowshoeing to Kendall Peak Lakes.
