Field trip: GoHike: Beginner Hiking Course

March GoHike Pacing Hikes: 2 to 4 miles, 0 to 750 feet of elevation gain - Tradition Plateau

We'll be taking the Tradition Lake Loop which is an almost flat hike around a pretty lake just outside of Issaquah. GoHike Pace Hikes are low-stress hikes to help you determine where you are in terms of gear, the pace (1.5 - 2 mph) and distance you can complete comfortably, and what your season goals for conditioning and hiking are, so that you can determine what level of hikes and pace would be the best fit for you to sign up for - no pressure, no judgment!

  • High Point Elevation: 540 ft
  • Pace: 1.5-2mph

Meet at the Tradition Lake Loop parking lot at 10:00am, ready to hike!

You can learn more about the hike by going to www.wta.org, then: "Go Outside" "Hiking Guide." In the search field enter "Tradition Lake Loop" and click search.

We'll try a couple of different paces so you can start to learn to assess what works for you.

Participation in 1 pacing hike is recommended for all GoHike participants.

Pacing hikes will be offered in March and will open for registration on February 1 at 12:00 pm. Register for only one pace hike. Pacing hikes assist you in setting goals and action steps for your hiking season and for achieving them and give you an opportunity to assess your gear and clothing options.

You will receive a Hello Hiker email from your trip leader prior to your selected hike that will provide you with details for the hike that you selected.

Please respond immediately once you've read the Hello Hiker email. It is essential to communicate with your leader that you've received this standard communication.

You won't need hiking poles, but it's a good opportunity to get used to them if you haven't used them before. Bring layers and watch the weather before you go. It's a short hike - we should be done in 2 hours. You should always bring a snack and a liter of water.
