April Hikes: 2.5 - 5 miles, 250 - 1,000 feet gain - Licorice Fern Trail

Join me on this lesser traveled hike through a moss-covered forest along a ravine, where our final destination will be a lovely waterfall. This hike may count toward your monthly required GoHike course April hike.

  • Mileage: 5.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 600 ft
  • Pace: 1.5 - 2 mph

Meet at Licorice Fern Trailhead at 8 am. There is no actual lot, parking alongside the road only. No parking pass required.

Coordinates: 47.50324, -122.11216

We'll gather at 8, go over the trip details and introductions and get to hiking shortly after.

This trail, while not a lot of elevation gain, does have some narrow sections that are rocky and uneven. We will take it slow on these sections.

Goals:

  • To reach fall country falls, enjoy a short break and snack and head back to the cars.
  • Foster community and belonging.
  • Lead and learn in a collaborative spirit.
  • Foster compassion, understanding and curiosity with one another, and in nature.
  • Have fun, be safe and enjoy one another's company.

Expectations:

  • Commitment to arrive on time at the trailhead, prepared and ready to be social and enjoy the hike.
  • Commitment to communicate with me for any concerns and/or questions before and during the trip.
  • Commitment to having fun.
  • The group will stay together. This means seeing a head in front and in back of you at all times.

Style:

  • Through actions and words, I lead through an inclusive lens.
  • I foster community within the group.
  • I lead a slower to moderate pace, allowing for flexibility between the two.

More to come in the 'hello hiker' email that will be sent out a week before the trip.
