April Hikes: 2.5 - 5 miles, 250 - 1,000 feet gain - Heybrook Ridge

Join me for this hike off HWY 2 to a beautiful ridge lookout with Mt. Index as a stunning view!

  • Mileage: 3.2 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 730 ft
  • Pace: 1.5 - 2 mph

Meet at the Heybrook Ridge trail head at 8:00 am sharp. There is no required parking pass.

This is a shorter hike through dense forest with a steady but gradual incline where we pop out onto the ridge for a beautiful view of Mt. Index. We will take our time to our destination where we will take a little break, enjoy a snack and the views before returning to the cars.

I drive a grey Nissan Rogue and I'll have a red bandana on my day pack to easily identify me. Sometimes there is a toilet, sometimes there isn't, so please be prepared with TP for bio breaks along the trail, and/or stop in Index to use the restroom beforehand. Once we arrive at the TH, we will go over a few things as a group at 8, introduce ourselves, and get to hiking shortly after.

Goals:

  • To reach Heybrook Ridge, enjoy the views, a small snack and get some group photos to celebrate the day's success!
  • Foster community and belonging.
  • Lead and learn in a collaborative spirit.
  • Foster compassion, understanding and curiosity with one another, and in nature.
  • Have fun, be safe and enjoy one another's company.

Expectations:

  • Commitment to arrive on time at the trailhead, prepared and ready to be social and enjoy the trip.
  • Commitment to communicate with me for any concerns and/or questions before and during the trip.
  • Commitment to having fun.
  • The group will stay together. This means seeing a head in front and in back of you at all times.

Style:

  • Through actions and words, I lead through an inclusive lens.
  • I foster community within the group.
  • I lead a slower to moderate pace, allowing for flexibility between the two.

More to come in the 'hello hiker' email that will be sent out a week before the trip.
