Mentor Group Practice Camp - Cougar Mountain: Harvey Manning Trailhead

This is a practice camp for Renee and Melinda's mentor group at Cougar Mountain. The field trip will allow our group to practice packing your pack, setting up your shelter, gathering and filtering/treating water and making a meal, while also checking out your mentors' and fellow mentees' gear. Students from other mentor groups that can't attend their own are welcome.

No parking pass required.

Please arrive at the TH packed and ready to hike. We'll hike a short loop and then setup our camp. Once we arrive we'll focus on evaluating where to camp, learn to pitch our tents securely and then put together our sleep systems. Then we'll gather water from the creek and use it to filter water for our lunch. Together we'll set up our stoves and make lunch. Finally, we will talk through learning to break camp quickly and efficiently including how to repack under different weather and trail conditions.

Expect a Hello Hiker email about a week before our practice camp that will outline more information regarding the expected weather and specifics to bring in your kit.
