At Leading On Rock 2 (LOR2) students will practice building omnidirectional gear anchors suitable for swapping leaders.  This will start to prepare them for climbing multi pitch routes where hanging belays are necessary. They will continue to practice building strong belay anchors under greater time constraints.

The majority of the weekend will be spent practicing gear placement, spacing, and extension on mock lead. Students will be given the chance to do true trad leads after they have led the same route with a top rope belay.  The climbs are tall but of moderate difficulty. Longer routes will present new physical, and emotional challenges, as many students will put real trust in their protection for the first time.  Dynamic and attentive lead belay technique will be thoroughly addressed.

The emphasis of this weekend is making solid gear placements and building an effective climbing protection system from the ground up. Efficient anchor building and transitioning to a true lead are secondary goals.
