Lisa Maloney, author of the new guidebook Day Hiking Southcentral Alaska, shares some of the best Southcentral trails, ranging from the northern Mat-Su Valley down to Kachemak Bay, along with tales of the oops, ouches, "brrrr"s and thrills of hiking them over the years. Come join us for this celebration of Southcentral’s beautiful mountains, rivers, and rainforests.

Admission is free as a part of First Friday, and signed copies of Day Hiking Southcentral Alaska will be available for purchase. After the talk, you can join the 7:30 tour of Death in the Ice: The Mystery of the Franklin Expedition, a new exhibit opening June 7.

About the Author: Lisa Maloney has lived in Alaska for more than 25 years. A former outdoors columnist for The Anchorage Press, she also covered a nationwide hiking and backpacking beat for About.com, served as senior editor at Alaska magazine, authored the award-winning travel guidebook Moon Alaska, and contributes outdoors and lifestyle articles to a number of publications.
