The Mountaineers recognized by Backpacker Magazine as a top hiking club

Backpacker Magazine, one of the pre-eminent adventure publications in the US, recently began to recognize hiking clubs across the country for excellence. In the May 2017 issue, The Mountaineers joined the ranks of their "best."

Noted in a short short sidebar:

The club grabbed our attention because of its devotion to adventure and education. In addition to near-daily hikes that range from beginner-friendly to expert only, the 11,000-plus-member club offers classes on skiing, sea kayaking and more."

This is a well-earned tribute to our incredible volunteer leaders across The Mountaineers who, in 2016, led a whopping 569 day hikes and 104 backpack trips, plus 32 seminars or clinics and 24 courses related to backpacking and day hiking.

Kudos and THANK YOU to all of you who made this happen!
