Tacoma Branch Open House and Special Presentation - Thurs. Jan 21

This past November, Tacoma Mountaineer Carrie Kavanaugh traveled to Nepal to climb Ama Dablam, an impressive and beautiful peak that caught her eye on her first expedition to the Himalaya in 2009.

This presentation will look at life at base camp and high camps, gear choices, preparation, Sherpa support, and wee bit about actually climbing the mountain, too! For most people, a trip to Everest Base Camp or climbing a Himalayan peak is a once in a lifetime trip. She will share how Nepal, the mountains, and most importantly, the people, have captured her heart and keep her coming back.

  • 6:30pm - Doors open, meet new members and course leaders, and learn about activities
  • 7pm - Mountaineers presentation - learn what we're all about and how you can get involved
  • 7:40pm - Feature Presentation
Light snacks and coffee/tea will be served.
