Summer Camp 2015: Wind and Waves

Hello! My name is Adry and I'm the Summer Camp Coordinator. I am so excited to be creating our Summer Camp blog this summer. From August 17-21, the theme here at The Mountaineers will revolve around the water! I'll be posting daily updates so check back for general information, photos, field trip updates, and daily camp reflections. Click here any time to see pictures of our adventures!

Day 4

Today, campers had a blast kayaking and visiting NOAA. Although the sun was hiding this morning, that didn't stop Trailblazers, Pioneers, and The Vikings from paddling out. We were happy that the sun DID eventually come out because without it, Water Games would have been a bit chilly!

Day 3

Our field trip to The Center for Wooden Boats was a success! While half of the group worked together to paddle in an Umiak, the other group was able to make their own boats and test the sails!

Day 2

Today was a day packed with fun here at The Mountaineers. Trailblazers, Pioneers, and Vikings spent the day together sailing, swimming, and helping out with a stewardship projects with Seattle Parks and Rec. The Explorers took the afternoon slot sailing and had so much fun commanding the boats and jumping into the water!

Day 1

It was awesome to get to know our last group of campers this week. We spent the first half of the day with team building challenges and ice breakers, followed by lots of climbing! Campers also enjoyed time down at the waterfront, where they were able to cool off and enjoy the heat!
