National Trails Day June 7

Getting outside, and protecting the areas we are passionate about recreating in, is important to The Mountaineers all year long. This time of year, as the summer season starts to open up, brings even more focus on the trails we use to access the backcountry. June 7 is National Trails Day, a nation-wide celebration of our trails organized by the American Hiking Society.

Always the first Saturday of June, National Trails Day has introduced thousands of people to the many recreational activities that use trails from hiking and biking, to horseback riding and paddling. What a great way to celebrate the beautiful landscapes our country has to offer!

The Mountaineers celebrates National Trails Day by getting folks inspired by our public lands through hiking and photography, and getting them involved in protecting the backcountry through trail work.

Inspire

Folks from our Seattle Branch have organized a weekend of June 7-8 at beautiful Sun Valley Lodge in the Methow Valley. There are different hikes and photography sessions to participate in. Can’t imagine a more inspiring place then the Methow Valley to celebrate trails! Join us!

Engage

How else can you celebrate our trails? By improving them!

Many of our branches are holding trail work stewardship activities as part of National Trails Day celebrations. Check out the different trails Mountaineers will be improving on June 7! Be a part of our conservation and stewardship work!
