When did you get involved with The Mountaineers? 2020
What youth programs do you participate in with The Mountaineers? Summer Camp, After-School Programs 

10 ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS:

How did you first get involved with The Mountaineers?

We heard about the After-School Hiking Program during Covid and signed up to stay connected to nature and others during the pandemic.

Why do you participate in Mountaineers Youth Programs? 

Henry: Because it is fun, and it is always great to make new friends. You also learn how to survive in the wilderness [at camp]. I like shelter building and first aid the best.

Ada: Because it is fun, and I want to learn more about the outdoors!

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE MOUNTAINEERS MEMORY?

Henry: Drinking stinging nettle tea with my friends.

Ada: Playing capture the flag at summer camp.

What is your favorite outdoor activity and why?

Henry: Downhill skiing, hiking, and backpacking because it is always fun to test your limits.

Ada: Backpacking because I like hiking and camping, and it feels like a reward when you get to your campsite.

What have you learned at The Mountaineers that you have applied to other parts of your life?

Henry: I used whittling skills that I learned at Mountaineers Summer Camp while backpacking this summer.

Ada: [I’ve learned] how to be resilient when hiking.

What things do you like to do when you’re not at Mountaineers youth programs?

Henry: I like to play soccer, read, and walk to the marina for ice cream sometimes. Occasionally, I like to watch a little show or play video games.

Ada: I like to ski, go on nature hikes, camp, do art, go to school, dance ballet, and hang out with my friends in my neighborhood.
