November 29 is Giving Tuesday, a global day of giving that inspires millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. The power of your generosity unlocks opportunity and equity everywhere – around the world and in our own community. Every year, Mountaineers members like you come together to pay it forward.
This Giving Tuesday, we hope to raise $30,000 to improve access to the outdoors.
People of all backgrounds come to The Mountaineers looking for access to outdoor education and recreation. With world-class books and courses and a deep well of community expertise, we are a trusted resource for those who want to learn important skills, try something new, or find a community of friends. Access to things like gear, transportation, generational knowledge, and more can prevent people from feeling included and comfortable in the outdoors. For many, the biggest barrier to participating in outdoor recreation is financial.
We believe the outdoors is for everyone, regardless of ability to pay. Donors help us bring outdoor skills and experiences to everyone through scholarships.

Beyond the lifelong friends I gained, I've come away with hard skills that help me feel more confident and safe as a woman in outdoor activity spaces. Last year, donations from our community provided 254 individual scholarships to youth and adults for courses, programs, and activities. Each scholarship helped to address financial barriers that people face to getting outside safely.
