Foothills Branch Seeking Volunteers For Key Leadership and Support Roles

Remember that feeling you got after completing your first Mountaineers hike, backpack, or scramble? “We did it!” Take that exhilaration to the next level, build your team leadership experience and resume, and contribute in a fun, meaningful way to the growth of our exciting programs for adults and families on the Eastside: Serve in a leadership role on our Foothills Branch Council!

Our all-volunteer Branch Council is behind the success of every program - from that first Mountaineers event, to outdoor activities and advanced courses, to impactful conservation and stewardship initiatives. It’s a fun and welcoming team, and your efforts really make a difference in the lives of our community!

The Foothills Branch is currently seeking candidates who are interested to volunteer 8-10 hours per month for the following Council positions:

All Branch Council positions are supported with plenty of mentorship, and don’t require a deep background with the branch or activity committees - though your background in team or operations leadership, project management, finance, or accounting would be a great fit.

Please read more about these roles and how to apply. Elections are held in October, so inquiries should be made by early September to qualify for the next member ballot. We need your talent and enthusiasm!

Branch Chair-Elect

The Branch Chair role is a three-year responsibility in which the first year is served as Chair-Elect, the second year as Chair, and the third year as Past Chair and mentor. During their first year in training, the Branch Chair-Elect works closely with the Branch Chair and Branch Past Chair to learn about, coordinate, and support the efforts and initiatives of the Foothills Branch committees.

Treasurer

The Branch Treasurer supports the Branch Chair and activity committees by overseeing the annual budget process, supporting the development of annual course pricing and investment proposals, and processing check requests and reimbursement requests for Foothills Branch volunteers. They may also choose to play an active role in Mountaineers financial decisions as a participant in Finance Committee meetings. This is a two-year term.

Why Should I apply?

  • Do you have team leadership, operations management, project management, or finance expertise? Would you enjoy sharing that experience to help The Mountaineers grow our diverse Eastside communities?
  • Has your life been transformed because of the trust and investment that Mountaineers volunteers made in you? Would you consider offering your skills and energy to help maintain and support these programs, giving others the same experience?
  • Are you looking for a "growth opportunity"? A chance to expand your professional resume with some hands-on experience leading or supporting a dynamic non-profit team
  • Have you been active in the Mountaineers for years, but are now scaling back in your outdoor activities and still want to make a difference in an interesting and exciting role?

If you answered "yes!" to any of the above questions, please consider applying to be a part of our Branch Council!
