BeWild launched last summer with great presentations that carried audiences along on epic adventures: kayaking through the Svalbard Archipelago, on an ascent of Denali, hiking on the Wonderland Trail, and on a mission to protect the wild heart of the Rocky Mountains.
This year, four Mountaineers Books authors will take to the stage, sharing highlights and insights from their incredible adventures around the world with you.
- March 17: John Roskelley, Paddling the Columbia from Source to Sea
- April 10: Colin Haley, Shuksan to Cerro Torre: A Climbing Progression
- May 19: Jennifer Wu, The Amazing Night Sky: Shooting from Dusk to Dawn
- August 12: Dave Showalter, Capturing the Spirit of the Sagebrush Sea
Members, get your ticket for any show for $14, or the whole series for $50. Tickets will be available starting on February 1.
Our series kicks off with John Roskelley. Now, you are probably familiar with this mountain climber and author for his ambitious climbing of 7,000 and 8,000-meter peaks in Nepal, India, and Pakistan, including his 1978 ascent of the Northeast Ridge of K2 and his first ascent of the West Face of Gaurishankar.
But, for BeWild, he'll be covering all new terrain.
You see, in the past decade, John has turned his attention to the wild river in his own back yard. His book Paddling the Columbia: 1,200 Miles from Source to Sea, published by Mountaineers Books in 2014, is meant to inspire paddlers to explore and enjoy the Columbia River, from its headwaters in British Columbia to its mouth in the Pacific Ocean.
Join John on March 17 for a wild ride down the Columbia River.
Then, come back April 10 when Colin Haley will bring you along on trip from the North Cascades to Patagonia.
