10 Essentials: Questions

How did you get involved with The Mountaineers?

I've always spent a lot of time on the trails, slopes, and in the backcountry in Washington. From time to time I would hear about The Mountaineers, and I finally got the opportunity to join in 2016.

What motivates you to get outside with us?

The Mountaineers are a good community of folks who love the outdoors. I've been fortunate that our community has an avenue for passing on skills through training and mentorship. Every year, I'm excited to both pass on skills and learn new ones from those who came before me.

What's your favorite Mountaineers memory?

One of my glacier climbs for completing the Basic Climbing Course was climbing Mount Rainier via the DC route. It was a hilarious adventure, and I'll never forget all the jokes and laughter all the way up the mountain. Climbing with good friends and having great trip leaders really made that trip one of my best memories.

Who/What inspires you?

There's something magical that happens during climbing or skiing. It's an exhilarating feeling that I always want to happen more. I'm also pretty self-driven. There are many climbs ahead of me, and I have every intention of completing all of them. I'm also inspired by those who came before me, and my friends who have completed amazing climbs.

What does adventure mean to you?

Getting out on an adventure means pushing myself, my capabilities, and my knowledge into new territory. Everyday can be an adventure filled with new experiences.
