Trip Report

The Tooth/South Face

Met at TH at 6am, started on the trail by 06:15, three rope teams with three basic students completing their final climb for graduation. The temperature was 62 degrees, which is unusually warm for this time of the morning. The temperature continued to rise into the 80’s by mid afternoon. Good stream for water just before turning off the trail onto the talus field. There is a decent trail that runs across the talus field and through the trees. Many loose boulders going up the talus field before reaching the gully to the base of the climb.

Reached the base of the climb by 09:00, started the climb by 09:30. Very straightforward climb with many anchor locations. Saw numerous cams that are stuck in cracks. No other climbers seen on the route until are last pitch. Made the summit by noon. Had one other rope team behind us along with a Solo climber reaching the summit at the same time as us. Celebrated all three basic climbers completing their final climb with cupcakes and brownies.

Started down by 12:30 and did four single rope rappels. Took us about 2 hours to rap down to the base of the climb. Slow moving down the talus field due to many loose rocks and not wanting any injuries. Very hot out, stopped at the stream just off the talus field and refilled water bottles and cool down. Made it back to trailhead by 5pm. It was a very fun climb with a great group of people.
