McAllister Creek Nisqually Reach trip report Sunday 9-14-2014

The group launched at 9:30AM with 12 kayaks from the Luhr Beach ramp. We headed south towards McAllister Creek. The wildlife refuge is signed “off limits”, so we need to stayed as close to the west shore as possible to access Mc Allister Creek. Mc Allister Creek is blocked by a downed tree about a mile past the I-5 bridge. We turned around there. The group stopped for lunch near Luhr Beach. We then proceeded west from Luhr Beach to the ship wreck near DeWolf Bight. After looking at the wreck, the group practiced rescues with the students. This was pleasant due to the warm temperatures.
The Group landed at Luhr Beach at 3:30PM. There were no incidents during this paddle. Afterwards we stopped in Dupont for dinner. A good time was had by all.
