West Tiger Mountain 1-2-3

Trip

Frontcountry Trail Run - West Tiger Mountain 1-2-3

Run the six summits of Timer Mountain after work. We'll hit West Tiger 1, 2, 3, Middle Tiger, South Tiger, and East Tiger. Yes. All of them. Celebrate the solstice. Expect lots of walking.

  • Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 11.5 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 4,000 ft
  • Pace: 15 - 25min miles

4PM-ish, Tiger Mountain Trailhead (https://goo.gl/maps/HCzqgoeAtmP2) off of Tiger Mountain Road SE (which is off Issaquah Hobart Road by Hwy 18).

We'll shuttle from there to the High Point Way trailhead (exit 20 of I90), aiming to start our run between 4:30 - 4:45pm.

This is point-to-point, so we need to deal with a car shuttle.

Route / Pace

The intended route is the first half of the "12 Summits" (#47) route in 50 Trail Runs in Washington. We'll hit WT 3, 2, 1, then East Tiger, Middle Tiger, and finally South Tiger, ending at the trailhead on Tiger Mountain Road SE.

This will be my longest run to date, and comes with a lot of elevation right in the middle of climbing season. Expect moderate paces and plenty of walking uphill. We'll try to keep moving the entire time since we have  a lot of ground to cover and are racing the sun.

Requesting leader permission

Send me a note with a few recent example runs. It's okay if this is a stretch for you; as I said above it'1l be a stretch for me too.

Weather Considerations

This trip will go, even if it's raining. Thunderstorms or near-freezing temperatures and rain will cancel.

Participant Expectations

All participants will need to abide by the Trail Runner Responsibility Code.
