Stewardship - Wynoochee Lake

Join the Olympia Mountaineers and Washington Trails Association (WTA) for a day or a weekend of maintenance on the lovely Wynoochee Lakeshore Trail.

8:30 am at the Wynoochee Dam Visitor Center, south end of the lake.

This long trail around Wynoochee Lake is in need of much repair.  Working with experienced WTA crew leaders, we will cut out logs across the trail and brush back any foliage encroaching into the corridor.  There is also drainage to clean out and tread to widen.  There may even be some trail washouts that require a short realignment of the trail.  We'll have fun, work hard and make a difference.

Volunteer on Saturday, Sunday or both days (Sign up separately for each day).  Everyone is invited to camp out on Saturday night at the Satsop Work Center where the facilities include restrooms and potable water.  This overnight is optional, but there will be a fun Cinco de Mayo potluck dinner for those who can stay after work is done on Saturday.

Our hike to the project site is expected to be 3-5 miles roundtrip each day over gently rolling terrain.  No experience is necessary for this work party because WTA will provide the training and tools needed.  This will be a private WTA work party exclusively for Mountaineers provided we can fill each day with at least 15 volunteers.  All participants will earn double credit: Mountaineers Stewardship badge and WTA work party credit.  Come have fun and help make a huge difference in repairing a beautiful trail for others to enjoy.
