Arrive at the remote Campbell Tree Grove Campground on the West Fork Humptulips River by 10:00 am on Saturday, May 18.

This is a unique and remote area of the Olympic Peninsula with huge old growth trees which were protected from logging for the enjoyment of wilderness lovers.  After arriving at the beautiful Campbell Tree Grove Campground, we will take time to set up our gear in the campsites before gathering for a welcome and safety briefing.  We will be spending the afternoon clearing the campground and trail which runs through the campground right along the West Fork Humptulips River.  Most of the work will involve cleaning up winter debris, lopping back brush and some sawing to remove larger trees and branches.  There will be time to relax and socialize after work in the evening.  We will continue our work on Sunday morning before breaking camp and leaving by 2:00 pm.  The combination of two half-days of trail work will provide enough hours for a full day of stewardship credit.  Note: the campground has picnic tables, fire rings, three pit toilets but no potable water, however the river runs along the edge of the campground.  More details will be provided to registered participants.
