Stewardship - Tolmie State Park

Tolmie State Park offers a variety of interesting hiking opportunities in coastal forests, Puget Sound shoreline, wetlands and creeks close in to Olympia. This work party will focus on repairing a boardwalk that was damaged by a falling tree and clear debris from the trail vicinity.

Meet at Tolmie State Park in the lower parking area at 9:00 a.m. Upon entering the park, go pass the large entrance sign, stay to the left and head down to the lower parking area.  If there is not adequate parking available, we will meet you at the entrance and relocate to additional parking.  It is a busy park and sometimes parking can be scarce.

The boardwalk repair will require a few trips to the park materials area to secure building materials and gravel to be carried to the worksite. The project will include building a solid gravel base for pier blocks,  attaching and leveling 4" X 6" lumber stringers, improving drainage under the boardwalk area and then attaching the 2" X 10" decking.   Some materials will need to be cut to length and checked for damage.
