On different days we will leave from different places.

We will car camp at Spenser Spit, or if some people prefer to get a hotel and meet us for the day trips that is fine also (the Lopez Islander resort is friendly and reasonably priced).

I recommend coming up Friday evening as I will be, as to get the early ferry you would need to leave very early. Spenser Spit does not take reservations this time of year and it shouldn't be a problem getting a spot.

We will do 2 separate day trips, We will choose which one on which day and exact times depending on conditions. Or if conditions are challenging we may do an alternative.

This day we will leave from Spenser Spit, we may need to roll the kayak down the path to the launch point. We will cross to Blakley and go north along the west shore, taking a early lunch at Blakley Marina. We will then go through Peavine Pass and follow the coast down to Thatcher Pass, Along the way we will go around the little islands of Pointer, Armitage and Willow. This day is about 13.5nm.

This day we will launch from Hunter Bay County Dock, after arranging a short shuttle to Mackaye Harbor. We will go through Lopez Pass and around the beautiful southeast coast of Lopez, taking time to go around the little islands along the way, Boulder, Colville, Castle, Blind, Swirl, and Iceburg. We will go around Iceburg point and into Mackaye harbor. This day is about 15nm.

If you want to make this a  3 day weekend, see the trip around Henry Island on Friday https://www.mountaineers.org/activities/activities/sea-kayak-san-juan-islands-archipelago-1/
