Sea Kayak - Port Gamble to Foulweather Bluff Preserve & Hood Head

Launch: 10:45AM

Meet at beach at end of View Dr. NE in Port Gamble.

If renting equipment from Olympic Ocean Sports make sure you arrive promptly at the store in Port Gamble.  Store opens at 10AM.

This paddle is initially reserved for current students of the Everett Basic Sea Kayak Course 2023.  It may open up for others . Decision will be made on April 29, 2023.

Plan is to launch from the protected beach by the Port Gamble Bay jetty.  We'll head north along the west shore of the peninsula towards Foulweather Bluff Preserve.  We may or may not get that far depending on weather, wind, and group capabilities.  After a short side trip into Driftwood Kay (aka Coon Bay) we'll cross Hood Canal to Hood Head.  After a brief pause we'll head south along the shoreline towards Shine Beach before crossing back over to our launch point at Port Gamble.

Olympic Ocean Sports in Port Gamble rents boats, gear, and drysuits.  Contact them directly for rental information.  Their website indicates first-come-first-served for rentals but in years past they have taken reservations for Mountaineer Kayak Course Students.  Port Gamble, Washington - Retail, Rental & Demo Facility - Olympic Outdoor Center

Assuming you are coming by ferry on the Edmonds/Kingston run please allow appropriate time and catch a ferry that gets you to Port Gamble EARLY rather than late.
