  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 12.0 nm
  • Maximum Wind: 15 kts
  • Maximum Waves: 2 ft
  • Maximum Currents: 2 kts
  • Pace: 2.5 mph

Meet at the boat launch under the RR tracks at the Steilacoom Ferry Terminal. We’ll unload then park cars in the lot near the ferry. Parking costs around $10.

8:45 am: Meet at put-in
9:45 am: Fully packed ready for beach talk.
10:00 am: Launch

This paddle combines the natural beauty of south sound with a chance to watch jets zooming by from the JBLM air show. We’ll paddle along the north side of Ketron Island to Anderson Island, stopping at Jacobs Point for lunch. Lunch will be at least two hours to watch the show. We’ll return along the inside of Ketron.

This trip includes two 1.5 NM crossings. Be prepared for 2-2.5 hours of paddling without a break due to limited landing options.

I’m hoping we’ll get a good show but I’ve never watched it from the water. At the very least, we’ll have a great day on the water!

Depending on how the group feels, we’ll cool off with a bit of rescue practice when we are back near the takeout.

We'll be back at the cars around 5pm, maybe a bit sooner, maybe later. Expect traffic to be heavy heading home.
