Ideally this is not your first Intermediate Ice climb.  If we haven't climbed together, provide assurance that you'll be ready for this trip when requesting leader's permission.

  • The Ten Essentials
  • Mountain boots that can accept crampons (not hiking boots)
  • Crampons
  • Technical ice tools, or a 1+1 setup
  • Belay device
  • Climbing harness
  • Helmet
  • A sleeping bag rated to +20 degrees or colder
  • A sleeping pad
  • A back pack (40 to 60 liters)
  • Fleece or puffy jacket
  • Rain gear
  • Gloves
  • 2 pickets
  • Additional gear sufficient for glacier travel and to conduct crevasse rescue
  • Your share of rope and/or additional necessary protection, as sorted out by participants prior to this trip
