ABOUT THE HIKE

This is the first of a pair of trips ("Phase 2 Double Feature") for people who would like to do more than one hike per week during Phase 2, which allows multiple hikes per week with the same roster.  People signed up for this trip hike may also sign up for the South Tiger Loop hike later in the week on Thursday, June 25.  Participation in the South Tiger Loop hike is completely optional.

Now that King County is starting to open up to group trips again, but with travel and social distancing requirements, our challenge is to find a route that is close but isn't too crowded. Let's use it as an opportunity to check out some of the less-used areas of nearby Tiger Mountain State Park.

For this hike we'll start at the less-used Easet Sunset Way Trailhead and head up trails on the northwest side of the mountain to West Tiger #2. Some of the trails are steep and are avoided by most Tiger visitors, which means better training and better solitude for us.  The Trip Leader will send a detailed route map to participants before the trip.

Even though our pace will be on the easy side of moderate (about 2mph), the mileage and gain of this route are substantial and some sections of trail are steep.  Please sign up only if you have been doing some conditioning hikes in recent weeks, and you are confident that the route is within your ability.

COVID-90 NOTES

  • This is a Phase 2 trip.
  • All participants must agree to the COVID-19 Code of Conduct.
  • Participants are limited to no more than one trip per week, or multiple trips with the same roster (as per WA guidelines to limit exposure to no more than 5 people outside your household per week).
  • All participants must bring hand sanitizer and a mask that you can quickly raise and lower as needed on the trail (usually a bandana).
  • This trip is open only to those who live local within 125 miles of the Tradition Plateau Trailhead (near the E. Sunset Way exit of I-90).
  • The trip will be updated if County guidelines change in advance of the trip.
