From I-5 south, hikers can drive to exit 63 signed for Winlock-Toledo, then take a left (southeast) onto SR-505 through Toledo. Proceed 16 miles to the junction with SR-504 East for 28 miles, then left again to the stay on SR-504 for two miles and turn left into the main Coldwater Lake TH area.

NW Forest Service or America The Beautiful Pass required for each vehicle at the trailhead.
Due to low snow level and weather forecast- We will meet at the Coldwater Lake Trailhead off of Hwy 504This is the main parking on the north side of the lake with the boat ramp. Condition reports say there is still a lot of snow at the high point climbing the ridge but the northern lakeshore trail is snow free. We will hike 9 miles Round Trip along the lakeshore to the junction with the Coldwater Ridge Trail gaining 550 feet of elevation.
We will aim to hike at about 2 MPH, but will still take plenty of breaks and hike to the pace of the slowest member of the group.  Mountaineers expects everyone to be an active participant in route finding. We should return to the trailhead by 3pm at the latest in any case.
