This hike begins at the TH to Palisades on 410 at approximately 9:30 am. There are no restrooms here but there is one back at The Dalles Campground about a mile or Safeway back in Enumclaw.
The beginning of the trail is steep and has nice switchbacks. We have a minor water crossing about 1/2 mile up trail so you must be wearing boots in order walk in and across the water not around it. Trekking poles are highly recommended.
Once we get to the ridge line, views of the White River below. Skookum Falls and Suntop Fire Lookout can be seen across the valley. Each of the three view points has a slightly bigger view of Mt. Rainier.
We will have lunch at a nice viewpoint at about noon. So bring snacks and at least 1.5L of water to fill in for the other views and breaks.
We should return to the vehicles at the TH around 3:30. Traffic can be a snarl between Enumclaw and Buckley so it is recommended not to schedule something you have to be at later that evening.
I would like to express our gratitude and acknowledgement of the Federally Recognized Muckleshoot People, as we gather on their traditional lands. We recognize Muckleshoot’s continued presence as a strong sovereign nation and their invaluable contributions to our state history, economy, and culture.
