Day Hike - Mount Ellinor

We will begin the hike at the upper trailhead, plan to have lunch on the summit and then return to our cars

  • Strenuous
  • Challenging
  • Mileage: 6.6 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 3,270 ft
  • Pace: 1-2 mph

We will meet at the upper Mt. Elinore trailhead at 8 am and will begin hike at 8:30 am.

This is a strenuous hike, but has incredibly beautiful views on a clear day. We will travel together and take water and snack breaks together every hour. We will plan to have lunch on the summit. This requires a high level of fitness on the part of participants.  Ascending the trail requires a good deal of aerobic conditioning as we are beginning the hike around 5,000 feet, and it continues up steeply the whole way.  Descending can be very hard on some hikers knees and trekking poles are recommended.

There is usually no running water to fill bottles, so it is expected that you carry enough water to last for a full, hot, highly aerobic day.

This is a challenging hike, but the trail is in very good condition, and the views are spectacular.

This hike is recommended for participants of the Olympia Conditioning Series.  As this is a strenuous hike, it is highly recommended that you have done 2-3 moderate hikes before this.
