Early evening hikes in the city call for headlamps and urban variations on the 10 essentials. No cotton, please, but reflective items add to our safety crossing city streets. Sunset is 8:32 pm, civil twilight a half hour later. Smaller umbrellas are OK, too.
Participants familiar with Seattle's history, architecture, urban horticulture or other insights to our route are welcome to help with the narration. Pace will adjust to hikers' comfort and fitness level -- this is not a marathon but a reasonable level of fitness is assumed for about 4 miles with at least 372 steps up and 569 steps down.
The hike is the 15th of 25 planned hikes from Seattle Stairways Walks. The Mount Baker neighborhood offers unique views and some prime walking territory. This in an enhanced (longer) version of Mount Baker Hike 20 in Seattle Stairway Walks (2013). Check out the Seattle Stairways blog here: http://www.seattlestairwaywalks.com/.
