Day Hike - Lost Valley Loop

An in-forest hike with some views of Capitol Peak.

  • Moderate
  • Moderate
  • Mileage: 8.0 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,125 ft
  • Pace: Easy/Moderate

We will meet at the Park N Ride at I-5 and Hwy 512, located behind the McDonalds on South Tacoma Way (Southwest corner of intersection), at 8:00 AM to car pool. Please arrive at/by 8:00 AM. If driving to Capitol Forest a Washington State Discover Pass is required.

This will be somewhat of an "exploratory" hike, so bring your sense for adventure and your own map!  Bring trekking poles if you need them!  This is an in-forest hike with some elevation gain (800"), with the highest point 1,125' per Urban Trails - Olympia. Yeah, different than listed!  So we will actually see what it is!

MAP:  Do your best to find the Dept. of Natural Resources Map (or friends of Capitol Forest). It is the best one. the USGS quad (Capitol Peak) has too much information and the trail info is hard to read. Green Trails doesn't offer one of Capitol Forest.
