Day Hike - Big Creek Loop

Come enjoy a late fall hike on the Big Creek loop. Easy hike for kids and families ages 6 and up. Preference will be given to families hiking with kids.

We are headed out to enjoy a late fall hike on the Big Creek Loop trail near Lake Cushman and Mt. Ellinor. Join us to enjoy a fairly easy forest hike, numerous creeks  and creek crossings that the trail has to offer. There is 850 feet of elevation gain so hiking experience would be helpful and this is probably a better hike for kids ages 6 and up. Preference to families with kids will be given. 

Kids and parents should be prepared with the 10 essentials and "parent" essentials including gear for cold and wet weather. Pack a lunch as we will take a break at a scenic spot to eat. Trail treats and hot chocolate will be provided!

We will meet as a group at 8:30 am in the Westside Haggen's parking lot (facing McDonalds) for introductions and a gear check.We will leave promptly at 8:45 am to head towards the trail head. 

Parking: You will need a Northwest Forest Pass

Directions: 

Drive north on Highway 101 to Hoodsport. Make a left onto Highway 119 and drive 9.5 miles west to a "T" intersection with Forest Road 24. At this large intersection, turn left and then immediately right into the Big Creek Campground. Continue through the campground  to the day-use parking area and trailhead.
