XC Ski Skills Practice. This is an opportunity to focus on skill practice in a supportive environment as a start of season refresher or just for fun!
If you are an experienced XC skier and would like to help with this trip, send me an email so that I can add you as an assistant (if you already have the leader badge, you can sign up as an assistant on the website).
This trip is not suitable as a first-time Nordic skiers, even if you have Alpine ski experience. Nordic Classic no-wax skis are recommended.
Participants should have experience with gentle hills (green and blue trails) including some ability to steer and stop. Since the emphasis is on skills practice, we may ski some features repeatedly while honing our skills.
We'll ski trails accessible from Crystal Springs Snopark. Trails selected will vary depending on conditions and group skills/interest. Due to the rain on Wednesday it is uncertain whether any grooming will be done. We'll choose from whichever trails are in the best (potentially fresh ungroomed snow) condition. There are quite a few flat or small rolling hills options that we can select. Our emphasis this week (the last week of skiing for me this season) will be on enjoying the scenario as we ski through the snow covered landscape. We'll plan to ski for 2 to 3 hours or until dark.
Don't forget to dress appropriately for the weather and the pace, and to bring the 10 Essentials.
