Bikepack - Ancient Lake

Trip

Bikepack - Ancient Lake

This is a great overnight bikepacking trip to dust off the bike and bags and start the bikepacking season.

  • Bikepacking MTB I
  • Casual
  • Mileage: 12.24 mi
  • Elevation Gain: 1,150 ft

Read all the notes for details. Leader's permission required.

We will park at the Ancient Lakes Lower Trailhead (on the north side of the lakes).

  • Google Maps directions
  • Coordinates are (47.16031262725101, -119.98073020555898)

Arrive with sufficient time to be ready to begin pedaling at 10:30 AM

Mountain bikes and mountain bike skills required. Riding will be on singletrack trails rated green to blue. For  details on ride ratings see here.  Pack water for two days as there is no access to usable water during the trip.

The Ancient Lakes area is  a great location for early season riding as  snow is  unlikely but sunshine is probable (but not guaranteed). However, in this desert like area, the nights can still be cold in  April. Prepare to pack for cold weather camping.

There is a network of trails in the area and we will plan on riding  an 11 mile loop the first day with 550' overall rolling gain to our campsite. The following day will be a short return back to the parking lot (2 miles, 100').  Though, riders are free to explore the area further on Sunday if they would like.

Email leader with experience on singletrack experience, particularly what Washington singletrack trails you have ridden and what bike you will be riding.
