LeBar Creek

Trip

Basic Canyon - LeBar Creek

Come join for a 4th of July weekend canyon extravaganza in the Olympics!

  • Basic Canyon
  • Easy

*NOTE: If the event is full, make sure to register for the waitlist! The group capacity is higher than what we are allowed to have for this particular activity. If we get enough people, we will create a secondary trip.

We will be camping in the Olympic National Forest along the SF Skokomish River and running several canyons over Saturday and Sunday. We will be camping on the evenings of Friday 7/2 and Saturday 7/3. Come for one or both canyons, and one or both nights for camping. On Saturday evening, we will be having a 4th of July potluck at camp, so bring a main dish or side dish to contribute.

The plan is to camp at Brown Creek campground near LeBar Creek if we can nab a couple of campsites before the weekend (the campground is first come first serve). Jake and Becca will be  there late Thursday or early Friday to try and get the campsites. If we are unable to get a site in a designated campground, we will find dispersed camping elsewhere nearby and come back out to phone service to update the event info. Participants will be asked to contribute to the campsite fees and additional car fees after the trip, likely no more than $10/person. When/Where To Meet:

We will be tentatively meeting at Brown Creek Campground for all days. Depending on when you plan to arrive, here are the anticipated times:

Friday or Saturday evenings: 6pm or later

Saturday/Sunday mornings: 8:30am (plan to be packed and ready to leave the campground by 9am each morning)

We anticipate there being enough participants  to split up into two groups both on Saturday and Sunday. One group will run Lebar Creek, and the other will run Rock Creek, which are very close to one another.
